Nine students in Grades 3, 4 and 5 represented Tumpane at a local TDSB Storytelling Event held at H.J. Alexander Public School. The students had an excellent opportunity to speak publicly, share their personal and true stories, and listen to other students from three different TDSB schools. Our students represented the school very well by listening to other students respectfully and being good audience members. It was a proud moment for our students to receive feedback and praises from renowned storyteller, Itah Sadu. The experience was an important stepping stone for our students’ written and oral language development. Mr. Wong would like to congratulate Tattyannah, Alexis, Magdalena, Priyanka, Alyson, Christen, Samantha, Adila and Sara for their courage, dedication, and success.
Despite the threat of a thunderstorm, Tumpane Public School hosted an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament between three other schools today. Bridlewood Public School, Norman Ingram, Shaughnessy Public School, and of course our school, all enjoyed three fairly played games. The day ended with beautiful, sunny weather, and Tumpane had an excellent result, winning two of their three games. It was very impressive to witness the students playing fairly and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations to the team, and a big thank you to the coaches: Ms. Henderson and Ms. Given.

Tumpane proudly showcased some of the school’s talent today. Mr. Belotto and Ms. Bair organized the 10th Tumpane Idol, which gave the school community an opportunity to see the talent at our school: singers, dancers and musicians all bravely took to the stage. Well done to all the students who performed!
Parents, students and teachers had a wonderful time on Friday at Tumpane’s winter carnival. From races to crafts, from food to fun, it was a great day for everyone involved. We thank Ms. Henderson for her leadership in organizing the event, and to all teachers, staff, and parents who helped make the day a fun and safe event. Now if you’re wondering who Bonhomme was…..
Today Tumpane held two Character Education assemblies to acknowledge students who demonstrated qualities of this month’s character trait: Fairness. Many students accepted awards from Ms. Dey in front of the school community.
Ms. James and her students provided a presentation that celebrated the achievements of African Americans and African Canadians. The students performed and sang, “Wade in the Water.” Afterwards, the students were treated to a lovely snack: a perfect ending to their efforts as a group, as friends, and as a school community.
Tumpane had a lively kick-off to the school’s upcoming French Carnival (Carnaval). With a special performance hosted by Gotta Love That French, students and teachers sang and danced their way to celebrate a very important part of Francophone culture. We’re all looking forward to the week-long celebration starting on Monday. For additional Carnval information, visit the official site: www.carnaval.qc.ca.
Around the school, many students were preparing decorations for the upcoming festivities. The colours in their artwork were vibrant and jolly, adding to the excitement of the big event.
