On Friday November 22nd the Grade 5 girl’s basketball team travelled to Shoreham Public School for their regional tournament. The girl’s played games against Shoreham, Derrydown and Norman Ingram and finished with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss. As a result, they finished second in the tournament and qualified to move on to the next round of the playoffs sometime in December.
A special thanks to Mr. Taylor who helped coach the girl’s team this year. An update on the team’s progress will be coming shortly. Go Tumpane!
Once again this year Tumpane students in Grades 3 and 4 have taken part in skating lessons through the Royal Bank Learn to Skate Program. Ice time, equipment and instructors were graciously donated to the school so that our students were able to attend three, hour long lessons at nearby Roding Arena.
Students learned some basic skating techniques while also participating in some fun drills and activities. A big thank-you to the instructors and the Royal Bank for making this opportunity available to Tumpane’s students again this year. I hope everyone had fun and you will be out at the rink this winter doing lots of skating.
Tumpane Red Nose Campaign in Support of Students in Need
I’m excited to announce that our school will be participating in Red Nose Campaign to assist Toronto students in need. Starting at our winter concert we will be selling flashing red noses for $3.00 each. All proceeds go to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) to help provide food, warm clothing and other essentials to Toronto students in need.
The TFSS is the independent charitable foundation for the Toronto District School Board. For more information on the TFSS, please visit their website at www.tfss.ca.
We encourage our students to participate and help support this great cause.
