EQAO Results 2011-12
Congratulations are in order for all our staff and students who helped us demonstrate excellence in reading, writing and mathematics as measured by EQAO this past school year! We are just thrilled with last year’s results!
For the last three years we have worked tirelessly and diligently to improve literacy and numeracy at Tumpane. With the help of Mr. Jones-Imhotep, Mrs. Giannetta, Mme. Hanson and our teaching staff, we finally achieved what we always knew was possible if literacy is taught with intentionality.
At Tumpane, literacy is delivered with a very specific focus on a balanced literacy program that includes: read alouds, shared reading and guided reading. Students are also taught to use the APE strategy to answer higher-order thinking questions. There is much more to our literacy and numeracy programs. We are encouraged by our achievements and will continue to put many more things in place to improve academic outcomes.
We also wish to thank all our parents/guardians who are in partnership with us to improve student outcomes. Success was achieved in part because you supported teaching and learning at home.
Our goal this year is to continue the course. We are on the right track. I trust that all of our students will continue the trend as we continue to enhance instructional practice and build teaching capacity in all areas of the curriculum.
