Changes to Building Access

Dear Parent(s), Guardian(s) and Community Members,
Please be advised that we are changing our school policy in regards to where parents/guardians pick-up their child at the end of the school day.
We have noticed an increasing number of people in our building between 3:10 and 3:30.  As a proactive measure to ensure the safety of everyone in our building, as of Monday, April 2nd, 2012 all persons will be required to wait outside of the building to pick up their child until 3:30 pm.  As always, teachers will walk non-bussed students to the exit door where your child can be picked up.
Our communication today will include this update on our web site, an email to those on our mailing list, and a brief letter sent home.  Signs will be posted on all entry/exit doors.   In addition, Parents/Guardians, who are in the building today and tomorrow, will be informed in person of this change in policy.  We will also communicate this in our next monthly Communiqué.
Thank you for your understanding and support of ensuring the safety of all at Tumpane PS.

The French Winter Carnival: A Success!

Parents, students and teachers had a wonderful time on Friday at Tumpane’s winter carnival. From races to crafts, from food to fun, it was a great day for everyone involved. We thank Ms. Henderson for her leadership in organizing the event, and to all teachers, staff, and parents who helped make the day a fun and safe event. Character Education and African Heritage Month Celebrations

Today Tumpane held two Character Education assemblies to acknowledge students who demonstrated qualities of this month’s character trait: Fairness. Many students accepted awards from Ms. Dey in front of the school community.

Ms. James and her students provided a presentation that celebrated the achievements of African Americans and African Canadians. The students performed and sang, “Wade in the Water.” Afterwards, the students were treated to a lovely snack: a perfect ending to their efforts as a group, as friends, and as a school community.
